カナダ、バンクーバーとケローナにある英語学校、バンウエストカレッジからこんにちは。

今日は、１月から開始された中国から移民してきたニコラスさんに感想をお聞きしました。彼は、一般英語プログラムで中級のレベル４で勉強中。担当の講師、June（ジューン）とクラスメートに支えられ、カナダでの英語研修を始められました。これからカナダで生活、仕事をしようとしているニコラスさんは英語研修への意気込みが違います。そういう彼も初めは不安が一杯だったのでしょうが、担任の講師やクラスメートに助けられ、最近は落ち着いてきた様子です。

バンウエストカレッジはバンクーバーでは中規模の学校です。全体でも年間平均１５０名程の学生さんがいまして、新入生もすぐに打ち解けられる環境があります。リラックスして勉強するのが一番です。ケローナ校は全体でも２５名から３０名迄の小規模校です。その分、学校全体がファミリーです。

My School Days       Nicolas from China       Feb. 7, 2007

ニコラスさん。

This is my first time to study in a foreign country. I felt excited when I came here on my first day to study. The teachers and students are nice and friendly. I like studying here.

Everyone knows that I come from China, I have some problems studying here, such as my pronunciation and listening. But my classmates didn’t laugh at me. They gave me advise and helped me to study my English well. I think I could improve my speaking too when I talk to someone in the class. I have to speak English but not Chinese. It’s a good way to improve someone’s speaking English. Thank you to everyone. They helped me a lot.

I have a funny teacher in Level 4. Her name is June. The same name as my friend in China. My English teacher often taught us grammar only when I studied in China. But now, June often makes us laugh in the classroom. June is not only my English teacher but also my friend. This is the biggest difference from China. I hardly found a teacher who is also my friend in China.

I am so happy that I can make many new friends here. They’re from different countries. They have different cultures. This is a good chance for me to learn different cultures in a different country. I’ll never forget the time I spent in VanWest. I’ll never forget the friends who I made in VanWest.
